The story of

Aaron Daye

Aaron Daye is currently the first black photographer for the Gainesville Sun Newspaper, Santa Fe College and the University of Florida working as the chief photographer and multimedia specialist for the University of Florida Foundation. His photography work has been distributed nationally and published in over 40 publications including the New York Times, Sports Illustrated, Ebony Magazine, HOME Magazine, Women’s Day Magazine and the Florida Gator Alumni Magazine. Currently Daye is the owner of Daye in the Life Media which combines the services of both his graphic design company Gorillaz Ink and Aaron Daye Photography.

In 2018, he joined forces with Ten Toes Down series creator, Trey Ford, as co-founders of Gainesville Black Wall Street, a consulting agency with the purpose of stimulating economic expansion in primarily black populated areas in North Central Florida. After hosting a private screening of Marvel’s Black Panther movie, the two then switched focus and created Black Films Matter, a boutique events company that provides dynamic viewing experiences centered around Black Film and Television while connecting the entertainment and business communities through film screenings, drive-ins, private screening, viewing parties, etc. 

Aaron continues to make his impact on the Gainesville community through his involvement with several community organizations such as the President of the University of Florida Association of Black Alumni – Gainesville Chapter, a Founding Board member & charter member of 100 Black Men of Greater Florida GNV, Inc., and a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated.
